Kingswood Bath: day, flexi, weekly or full boarding, with no Saturday lessons
Kingswood offers several versions of the same school week: day, flexi, weekly and full boarding. Teaching can flow into activities, supper and prep, but there are no formal Saturday lessons. The right question is not simply whether your child should board; it is how much of this long, shared day would help them thrive.

Curriculum breadth includes more than an A-level list
In Years 10–11, pupils usually take nine or ten GCSEs with four options. Sixth form centres on three A levels, or four where Further Maths is included, with two Advanced Electives early in Year 12.
BTEC Sport and EPQ add routes beyond the standard A-level set.
The sample day can run well beyond lessons
The published activity pattern shows arrival and registration from 8am, teaching to 4.20pm and activities to 5.20pm. Pupils may then stay for supper and supervised prep.
Years 7–9 are expected to take at least three activities each week; Year 10 at least two. Ask whether those sit within the day, how choice is allocated and what happens when a pupil wants to change after trying something.
There are no formal Saturday lessons, but fixtures can take place. A family seeking protected weekends should ask how often their child’s likely sport competes and how much attendance is expected.
The late bus can help—and still mean a long evening
The current routes cover areas around Peasedown St John, West Harptree, Tetbury and Chippenham. The Bath Spa collection is listed at 8.05am, with a return at 5.55pm, traffic permitting.
That return supports the activity day but reaches the station nearly two hours after lessons end. Add the journey on either side and ask what happens after a fixture, rehearsal or prep that misses the bus.
Weekly boarding is not simply full boarding minus two nights
The boarding overview covers full, weekly and flexi boarding. Years 7–8 share a coeducational Junior house; from Year 9 the Senior houses are separated by sex. Ask where a new pupil would sleep and how rooms change.
Weekly boarders may leave on Friday or after a Saturday fixture. Current school material says most pupils in Senior houses are full boarders. The public overview does not give the normal weekly-boarder return time after leaving Friday or Saturday.
For flexi boarding, obtain the nights, booking rules, capacity, cancellations and whether the same bed or room is used. Flexi boarding still depends on space on the night you need it.
Screening is a start; the weekly plan matters more
The learning-support page says new pupils are screened, with pupil profiles, specialist one-to-one work, a quiet support centre and school-controlled access-arrangement assessment. The school quotes £36.70 including VAT for one-to-one SEN tuition but does not publish the billing unit.

The latest inspection gives two useful visit questions
The October 2025 ISI inspection found all applicable standards met. Its next steps were more consistent academic stretch and consistently effective management of lower-school classroom behaviour.
The fee step after Year 8 is easy to miss
The 2026–27 fee page lists day tuition at £8,025 per term, plus compulsory lunch and tea of £398. That produces £8,423 per term or £25,269 over three terms before other extras.
These are current 2026–27 charges, not a 2027–28 quotation. Obtain the new schedule and notice terms before accepting a September 2027 place. The current admissions page lists a £500 UK deposit and £2,500 international deposit; international families also pay one term’s fees in advance.
| Route | Years 7–8 | Years 9–13 |
|---|---|---|
| Day tuition | £8,025 plus £398 food | £8,025 plus £398 food |
| Weekly boarding | £12,676 | £15,702 |
| Full boarding | £14,510 | £17,380 |
A separate bursary form, due in October
Bursaries are means-tested and require a separately requested form. Completed 2027 forms are due 23 October 2026.
The 2027 Year 7 calendar starts early
The 2027 process sets 23 October 2026 as the registration, bursary and award deadline. Talent assessments follow in mid-November. Interviews and entrance assessment run on 8–9 January 2027, with offers on 1 February.
The assessment looks at individual work and group behaviour
Year 7 candidates take English, maths and non-verbal reasoning, then have a small-group interview. External candidates also complete a group activity. Kingswood publishes no pass mark, weighting or admissions odds.
Kingswood does not publish a group-activity scoring rubric. The ideas here are low-pressure ways to practise participating, not claimed selection criteria. Keep reading, writing and arithmetic steady, and learn common NVR formats without daily test drills.
A quiet child need not perform as an extrovert. Help them find simple ways to enter a discussion: ask a question, summarise an idea or volunteer for one concrete part of the task.
